Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. The population including the CBD stands at around 2.5 million. In the late 12th century it was a small fishing and hunting village and operating as a basic trading hub for surrounding areas. By the 17th century Amsterdam was one of the largest trading ports and cities in the world. Since then the city has expanded with many fine buildings and parks including an array of beautiful canals to stroll, bike and dine along.

Amsterdam city is a major European tourist destination with most hotels located in the city center where the busy night life is catered for with many bars, cafes and restaurants. It is a truly multicultural destination which reflects widely on the range of establishments and multicultural foods to be enjoyed. We personally recommend visiting in the warmer months, with the outdoor terrace enjoyment of establishments along canals a big drawcard. Prices range from affordable to very expensive like most destinations.

So much to see and do including Amsterdam’s famous ‘Red Light District’, the vibrancy and diversity of the city is amongst the best.
Amsterdam’s appeal as a travel destination comes from its unique blend of history, culture, natural beauty, and progressive spirit. More about Amsterdam.
